The Round Alphabet (nearly done)

Image
The Round Alphabet, as I call it, is quite... well, round. I couldn't really think of another name for it. It's seen in a lot of random places around Inkopolis, and looks a bit more similar (at times) to the English alphabet.  While this alphabet starts with a Squid Sisters performance, it's not in the game. It's actually the poster for their live show at Niconico Chokaigi. Let's take a look: Looking at the main title, we can conclude based on the repeating letters that this says "shiokaraz", with the "u" missing (explained in other post). Also, looking at the very top of the poster we can plug in what we already have and deduce that it does, in fact, say "niconicochokaigi", as the letters look similar as it is. However, do notice that the "c" seems to be the same glyph as the "g". We can also take a look at Off the Hook's Tokaigi (different from "Chokaigi") performance poster: Along with the poster say

The Bold Alphabet (WIP)

The Bold Alphabet is an alphabet that is very... well, bold. It's quite easy to tell it apart from other alphabets, in that it looks like the Inkling version of the main font in the original Splatoon.  Like many of the other "alphabets" I'll be covering, our first clues start in the original Splatoon with Callie and Marie's amiibo performances. The trucks that they dance on flash logos/titles of the songs that they sing; there are different ones for each song. This one starts with the logo for "Bomb Rush Blush", Callie's solo song from the first game. When you load it up through her amiibo, this is what you'll see: From Splatoon Script Analysis, http://splatoon-scripts.tumblr.com/ This logo lines up with the romanized title of the song in Japanese, "tokimeki bomb rush" (トキメキ☆ボムラッシュ, pit-a-pat ☆ bomb rush), with the katakana loanwords in their original English spelling. These letters each have a consistent equivalent (i.e. the Ks are alw

The Square Alphabet

The Square Alphabet, as I have been calling it, is a set of glyphs that contain a lot of right angles and boxes. It's seen frequently in Splatoon 2, and it seems to me to be more associated with the Octarians. Like many of the other "alphabets" I'll be covering, our first clues start in the original Splatoon with Callie and Marie's amiibo performances. The trucks that they dance on flash logos/titles of the songs that they sing; there are different ones for each song. This one starts with the logo for "Ink Me Up", the song that would play during Splatfest battles in the first game. When you load it up through the amiibo, this is what you'll see: (taken from the Tumblr blog Splatoon Script Analysis , because my Wii U is long gone) This logo lines up with the romanized title of the song in Japanese, "kimi iro ni somete" (キミ色に染めて, dye me in your color). These letters each have a consistent equivalent (i.e. the Is are always the same glyph.) (o

Welcome to Inklang! Here's what the site's about.

I've decided to port over an old blog of mine that I created in 2017, which I used to document my findings about the glyphs present in Splatoon 2. (Of course, those posts are filled with cringe, so I'm rewriting them all to be more clear and concise.)   I hope you guys enjoy!
